Anna Piaggi

Anna Piaggi is an Italian fashion writer for Vogue and a notorious style icon. Her admirers include fashion deity's and designers around the world including Manolo Blahnik, Stefano Gabbana, and Domenico Dolce. She has been grounded in New York while visiting London and Italy periodically since the 1950's. Anna Piaggi can be spotted in the backstage workings of any fashion show ranging from Lanvin to Cavalli all around the globe. In many ways she could be my grand mother; this is no frivolous jab at my grand mother its a solid fact. My grandma could be seen prowling the streets in neon colors, textured fabrics, stripes, polka dots, and of all things she loved most; butterflies. Whenever my mother thinks I dress a bit off color, she simply states "you dress like grandma". So the ultimate question is..who decides? Who decides if this writer for Italian Vogue is an inspiration or off her rocker? Who decides if dressing how you want regardless of what's currently "in" is fashion savvy or fashion catastrophe? Would you admire Anna Piaggi covered in gaudy lavish fashion or my humble grand mother draped in thrifted butterflies?
